Discover significant little treasures of national import from the history of art. The former parish church of Hechingen was turned into one of the most important Renaissance churches in the south of Germany under Prince Eitel Frederick I of Hohenzollern-Hechingen from 1586 - 1589. The accompanying construction and founding of the monastery were acts of counter reformation. In 1585, the first Franciscan friars moved in.
The Franciscan brewery was also famous, and its operation continued following secularisation. The brewery was later sold and developed into one of the nuclei of Stuttgarter Hofbräu AG. The former Franciscan monastery now accommodates the catholic education centre of St. Luzen. From Christmas until the end of January, there is a nativity set in the choir of St. Luzen Church which is highly recommended.
