In terms of its construction, the Hechingen Town Hall has had an eventful history. The building you see before you today was first constructed in 1957/58 from the design of architect Paul Schmitthenner. Several previous constructions and conversions document the varied history of the public building.

The high-quality interior decoration of the Town Hall was also designed by Schmitthenner and has been almost completely preserved, making the building a classic piece of 1950s architecture, in which historians of architecture are still greatly interested today.

The fountain in front of the Town Hall, which was turned on in 1998, tells the history of the Town of Hechingen from the beginning to the present in the form of reliefs.
